Research & Development

In a competitive environment, research and development lie at the heart of Steiner’s strategy: its market share is dependent on its innovations. Its scope is relatively broad: development of new products, improvement of existing products, optimisation of processes, etc. The main missions of the Research & Development Department are to:
  • carry out research into suitable raw materials
  • perform laboratory or pilot tests
  • prepare for the industrialisation phase
  • perform tests on production lines
  • monitor product start-up
  • monitor the competition and anticipate market demand
  • fine-tune the formulation
  • invent new products in line with customer demand
To fulfil these missions, Steiner has a very active Research & Development Department, allowing it to synthesise, develop and formulate all types of dye substances for increasingly varied applications:
  • Paper
  • Textiles
  • Leather
  • Wood
  • Petroleum and oil
  • Inks and miscellaneous
Our R&D Department is at our customers’ disposal for the development of specific studies fo industrialisation on the site, in the strictest confidence, and in line with customers’ specifications.

Optimisation of synthesis processes for environmentally-friendly chemistry (with significant efforts dedicated to COD-type pollution) along with ongoing research into the most economical synthesis routes and processes also form an integral part of the department’s work. The team involved in this work consists of a Doctor of Chemical Engineering and 3 technicians. Our technical resources include reactors, autoclaves (pressurised chemistry), ultra-filtration and nano-filtration equipment and an industrial pilot unit, in addition to “conventional” chemical synthesis equipment.
